I purchased my first mobile, the size of a house brick, in 1989. It cost the same as a small house, and had to be carried in a briefcase. And when I stopped to use it in public, usually looking for a wall to balance it on, a small crowd would gather and look on in astonishment.
I now have a matchbox-sized phone that lets me run three companies from anywhere in the world, loaded with apps that allow me to keep up with mates, watch shares, play games, manage my fitness programme, search for anything ever written, watch TV on the move and even translate everything I do into every language on earth.
